msl Timbercheck has been tested to effectively fire retard untreated wood that is free from coatings such as paints or varnishes. Coatings should be removed by sanding or stripping.

Euroclass certifications are formally incorporated into the UK Building regulations and regulators in the UK are legally bound to accept them in lieu of national test methods (which are also still permitted).

Treating absorbent materials with msl Timbercheck creates an invisible, fire retardant layer. msl Timbercheck has non-flammable properties, which become part of the substrate, restricting ignition and the spread of flame. It will not wash out from the surface of the substrate after drying, it is not converted into smoke when exposed to high temperatures, and carbon char is restricted to the immediate area. Materials treated with msl Timbercheck when exposed to temperatures of up to 1700 C are subject to charcoal forming, severely restricting the spread of flame.

No, unlike intumescent systems it does not require an additional protective finishing coat.

Timbercheck can treat all types of wood. Wood moisture content should be 20% or less. We would recommend testing a small sample or inconspicuous area of the substrate to establish both absorption properties and possible colour change.

You will need to apply approximately 3 coats.270ml will give a coverage of 3 coats to cover approximately 1 m2. Each coat should be applied at intervals of a minimum of 1 hour. The coverage below is for a complete treatment ie 3 coats:

• 1litre Trigger Spray covers 3.7m2
• 5litre Container covers 18.5m2
• 20litre Drum covers 74m2
• 100litre Drum covers 370m2

The treatment is supplied ready for use and can be applied using a brush, roller or spray (use appropriate mask when spraying). msl Timbercheck is also suitable for use with a dip or vacuum method. Please read the complete instructions before beginning the treatment.

The fire retardant properties have been tested to NT 053 & NT 054 on a 20 year accelerated Weathering Cycle.

Yes the product has a shelf life of several years and should be stored upright. msl Timbercheck should be stored at temperatures above zero. If stored for more than 6 months a gentle shake before application is recommended.
